About this topic

Liver hemangioma is made of clustered blood vessels in the liver. It is not caused by cancer. It most often does not cause any signs and does not change how the liver works. Most of the time, a person finds out they have this only because of a test done for a different reason. Treatment is needed if it becomes big or if you have pain from it. ‚

What are the causes?

The reason you have this is not known. It may have been formed before birth. ‚

What can make this more likely to happen?

What are the main signs?

Liver hemangioma is most often found during a surgery or test done for some other reason. Your doctor may order: ‚

How does the doctor treat this health problem?

Your doctor may want to just watch your hemangioma if it is small. Most often, your liver hemangioma will not cause any signs and will not affect your liver function. You may need treatment if you have more pain or the hemangioma is getting bigger. Your doctor may do a procedure to stop the blood flow to the hemangioma.
