Make a figure 8 with the tape.- Start on the middle of your foot near the arch. Bring the tape under your foot and cross it in front of your ankle. Then, bring the tape around your lower leg and again, cross it in front of the ankle and down near the arch.
- Add tape around the heel. Start the tape at an angle inside the heel and bring the tape down under your heel and angle it up the other side. You should end where you started. Then, do another figure 8 of tape.
Make stirrups and horseshoes with tape.- Start by taping from inside your lower leg, across the bottom of your foot and up the outside of your leg. This is a tape stirrup.
- Next, start on the inside of the foot at the tape just below your toes. Loop the tape around the back of your foot and end at the outside of your foot. This is a tape horseshoe.
- *Do 3 or 4 stirrups and horseshoe sets and overlap each one a little bit.
What problems could happen?
If the wrap is too tight: ‚
- Areas of skin irritation
- Open areas
- Feeling of numbness
- Nail color changes
If the wrap is too loose: ‚
- Not enough support
- Worsening of injury
The muscles around your ankle could become weaker if you continue to tape your wrist for a long time. Be sure to exercise these muscle when your injury heals. ‚
Helpful tips
You may want to use a spray adhesive on top of the prewrap to help hold it in place. You may also want to spray this on your skin before you start. ‚
