Somatization disorder is a condition where a person has physical signs in more than one body part. These signs cannot be traced to a physical cause. The signs are real. They can cause stress and problems in everyday life. Many doctors now see a link between emotional stress and physical problems, such as pain. Often, people with this problem are very worried about their health. This may happen if doctors are not able to find an exact physical problem that is causing the signs. ‚

Teach Back: Helping You Understand

The Teach Back Method helps you understand the information we are giving you. The idea is simple. After talking with the staff, tell them in your own words what you were just told. This helps to make sure the staff has covered each thing clearly. It also helps to explain things that may have been a bit confusing. Before going home, make sure you are able to do these: ‚
  • I can tell you about my condition.
  • I can tell you what may help ease my stress.
  • I can tell you what I will do if I have a change in my signs or trouble coping with my signs.
