These foods should be avoided: ‚  
  • Sticky foods like peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, white bread, and rice. These can clump and make a ball. This may cause you to feel sick or throw up.
  • Nuts
  • Popcorn
  • Chips
  • Raw fruits and vegetables
  • Salad dressings
  • Fried foods
  • Meat that is tough unless it is slow cooked to make it tender
  • High-fat foods like mayonnaise, sour cream, gravy, butter, bacon, and sausage

Helpful tips


  • Avoid using a straw or sipping from a bottle. This could cause you to swallow air and can cause gas.
  • Do not drink while eating.
  • Try to avoid foods that are very hot or very cold. Foods that are too hot or too cold may cause spasms or cramps.
  • If you have belly pain, drink more liquids and eat less food.
